Making of Bhoothnath

Making of Bhoothnath

Mar 03, 2008

Bhoothnath was just a thought sitting around with a close friend Amrita Basu discussing art of living, spirituality and life in general. We soon reached a point of debate on fear psychosis, during the conversation and I realised we are brought up in conditional environment with defined set rules and set notions about everything, which in order defines our approach, reaction, behaviour, to a particular incident and that is when a thought triggered about Bhoothnath.

I got very excited with the whole idea, I sat down and wrote the whole concept, after which I called up my close friend Juhi Chawla for the narration of the story. She immediately gave me an appointment. I went up to her and narrated the whole story and she was as excited as me with the idea. As Rani Mukerji happens to be a close friend of mine I also went to meet her on the sets of the film Babul and that is when my writer suggested that I narrate the script to Ravi Chopra, so I texted an SMS to Raviji about the narration of the script and I was amazed to have prompt response through him he called me to his office for narration.

I purposely did not let out the whole idea as I needed to understand his interest in the project and it was astonishing to know that he was also very excited about the project and he gave me few pointers to be added in the script and meet him after two days. I met Raviji with the detailed script after two days and he gave me the good news that he would produce my debut film for me.

On the same day I had a meeting with SRK on the sets of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. SRK showed interest in producing the film and that is when I gave him the good news that the film was being produced by Ravi Chopra.

Guys, of course srk is the baadshah of bollywood. No doubts
here. In fact, the icing on the cake is that srk has taken a
masala movie and truned it into the biggest bollywood
blockbuster of all times! Isn't that enough justification of
his abilities and fan following!!

Don't be rude or interrupt others who are having a conversation. Ethnic slurs, personal insults and abuses are rather uncool. Criticise, but know where to draw the line. No point putting in personal details or links, we won't publish them. Try and write in English and please, stick to the point!
