The Nandigram massacre, where defenseless villagers in West Bengal were allegedly killed by the ruling party enforcement troops and cadres, will know be brought alive on the silver screen. The nation had watched in shock and disbelief as one of the biggest scandals to rock the communist party regime in Bengal, unfolded, not too far from the intellectual capital of the country.

Ujjwal Chatterjee, maker of Escape From Taliban, who makes controversial films, is directing the project. The film will be made in Bengali and will star Mithun Chakraborty, Gracy Singh and ruling superstar of Tollywood, Prasenjit.

Chatterjee says, "It's true, I am making this film on the Nandigram massacre where 140 innocent people were killed. We're also going to show the story of a girl who was raped, murdered and burnt during the massacre. The film will star Mithun as a police inspector, Gracy Singh as CBI officer, and Prasenjit as a union leader."

Adds Chatterjee, "My writers are Sudeep Mukherjee and Samarish Mazumdar. They visited the spot and met the victims' families and did their research. We wanted to shoot at the original location but due to security reasons we'll be shooting in Mumbai. It's the first time a Bengali film will be shot in Mumbai. But to be on the safer side, I'm going to have high security during the shoot. I am also planning to dub in Hindi," he added. Shooting for the yet-untitled film will begin in August.

Don't be rude or interrupt others who are having a conversation. Ethnic slurs, personal insults and abuses are rather uncool. Criticise, but know where to draw the line. No point putting in personal details or links, we won't publish them. Try and write in English and please, stick to the point!
